A space for objects with stories. And substance.

The Reception is more than just a name — it is a place with history. Our concept store is located in the former lobby of the historic Hotel Monopol, right in the heart of Andermatt. Where guests once checked in, a curated journey now begins — through fashion, art, and design.

The idea: to bring forgotten lobbies back to life. What begins in Andermatt is meant to travel the world. We aim to transform disused or temporarily vacant hotel reception areas — whether in buildings under renovation, hotels in transition, or spaces seeking a refined extension of their offering. These are not just rooms — they are architectural stages with new meaning. Spatial reuse as curatorial act.

Amid faded grandeur, quiet elegance, and intentional minimalism, a space emerges that feels more like a gallery than a store. Visitors don’t simply enter a shop — they step into a threshold space: mystical, distilled, and filled with stories.

Here, shelves do not hold products — they hold encounters:

A rare vintage armchair.
An unworn pair of sunglasses from the 1980s.
A jacket from a Paris runway.
An artwork from a private collection.

Each piece is selected with care — for its origin, presence, quality, and meaning.

Slow Shopping

What we offer is time – for the object, for reflection, for dialogue. We call it slow shopping: an experience that feels more like stepping into a studio than a store. No pressure. No crowd. Just space to explore.

The concept combines handmade new pieces from European ateliers with outstanding vintage finds, selected for their history, condition, and character. This mix isn’t just aesthetic – it’s part of our commitment to thoughtful, sustainable consumption.

In collaboration with artists, designers, and private collectors, we create an interdisciplinary selection that treats fashion, design, and art as equals. Many of our pieces are one of a kind – and will stay that way.

Background

Founded by Leonard Grossmann, whose background blends art, fashion, and business. The idea: to build a space beyond the ordinary. A space for people with an eye for substance, not noise. No collections. No cycles. No repetition. Just things that stay with you.

Our curatorial philosophy is simple: respectful, refined, relevant.
